Honoring the Life of U.S. Rep. Millender-McDonald (D-CA)
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Kendrick B. Meek (D-FL) issued the following statement honoring the life of Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald (D-CA), Chairwoman of the Committee on House Administration:
"I was shocked and saddened to hear the news about the passing of my friend and colleague, Congresswoman Millender-McDonald. My thoughts and prayers are with her husband James and her family during this trying time. Congresswoman Millender-McDonald was an inspirational colleague who skillfully represented her constituents and the black community with great ability.
"Congresswoman Millender-McDonald was a pioneer who overcame great obstacles to achieve tremendous success as a public servant. The accomplishments of leaders from her generation and the generations that preceded her paved the path of opportunity for so many Americans today.
"With Congresswoman Millender-McDonald's passing, we have lost a leader and role model. Her presence will sorely be missed.
Congressman Kendrick B. Meek (D-FL) represents the 17th Congressional District which includes parts of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. He serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee.
